FRANKEL JEWISH ACADEMY'S PERFORMING ARTS
PRESENTS
Written by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore
“Drop Dead!" is actually the name of the play-within-this-play (a 576-page script reduced to an 18-page plot). An eclectic group pin their hopes and aspirations on a potboiling murder mystery. The cast, ranging from has-been divas to “green” actors who conspire to either revive or launch their careers are under the considerable talents of director Victor LePewe, the "Wonder Child of the Broadway Stage" who in reality is a psychotic eye-twitching megalomaniac. In Act One, “The Final Dress Rehearsal,” we witness the actors dropping lines, forgetting props, running into scenery, and miscuing sound effects all while cast and crew are turning up murdered. In Act Two, “Opening Night Performance”, the murders continue, leaving the surviving actors with no choice but to save the show and their careers while simultaneously trying to solve the mystery, if not to simply stay alive before the final curtain falls. This edgy, suspenseful comedy is filled with hysterical lines and slapstick treats!
DROP DEAD! is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
